Responsibilities

• Inspect machined and fabricated weldments to ensure conformance to contract specifications.
• Verify that vendor-supplied parts and materials meet required plans and specifications.
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure timely inspection at designated hold points, supporting efficient workflow.
• Read and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications to determine material, surface, dimensional, and NDT requirements.
• Measure dimensions such as length, height, diameter, and distance using precision instruments; experience with portable measuring equipment (e.g., FARO, Creaform, Keyence) is a plus.
• Locate reference points and measure angles, arcs, and radii on parts.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, welding logs, and dimensional inspection reports for components and assemblies.
• Conduct inspections on first-run, in-process, and final fabricated parts and assemblies.
• Set up and test equipment to ensure measurement accuracy.
• Test hardness of workpiece surfaces using appropriate testing machines.
• Maintain calibration records for welding machines and inspection gauges.
• Prepare and maintain welder continuity logs.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support quality and production goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of technical school or five years of experience in heavy steel fabrication preferred.
• Prior experience inspecting fabricated weldments and working in heavy construction machining or related industries.
• Experience with nondestructive testing (NDT) is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and manuals.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in basic math, including fractions, decimals, and trigonometry.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated with strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with management and co-workers.
• Physical dexterity, strength, and stamina to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in various plant conditions.
