About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Digital DevOps Infrastructure Senior Consultant with a strong background in enterprise networking, cloud connectivity, infrastructure automation, and security-driven infrastructure design.
In this customer-facing role, you will lead technical architecture, solution design, and consulting engagements for enterprise customers across Europe, with a particular focus on the BeNeLux region. You will work closely with customers, sales teams, architects, engineering, and delivery teams to design and implement scalable, secure, and automated infrastructure solutions.
The ideal candidate combines deep networking expertise with hands-on experience in cloud networking, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, DevOps, and practical DevSecOps principles. You will act as a trusted technical advisor, translating business and technical requirements into robust architectures and helping customers achieve their digital transformation objectives.
Key Responsibilities 1. Consulting, Architecture, and Pre-Sales
- Lead technical discussions during pre-sales engagements, identifying customer requirements and recommending appropriate multi-vendor solutions.
- Translate business objectives, technical requirements, and operational constraints into architecture designs and technical strategies.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customer IT stakeholders, senior management, and business owners.
- Support business development by articulating the technical and commercial value of proposed solutions.
- Define consulting scope, estimate technical effort, and develop deployment and migration strategies.
- Produce architecture blueprints, high-level and low-level designs, technical standards, and implementation documentation.
2. Technical Leadership and Delivery
- Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary design teams in a matrix-managed, multinational environment.
- Lead technical pilots and proofs of concept (PoCs), defining success criteria and ensuring results are tested and documented.
- Support implementation teams during complex deployments, migrations, and infrastructure transformation initiatives.
- Maintain strong customer relationships and monitor technical engagement progress, risks, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with engineering, cloud, security, and delivery teams to ensure designs are practical, supportable, and aligned with customer requirements.
3. Enterprise Networking and Cloud Connectivity
- Design enterprise network architectures covering SDN/NFV, SD-WAN, WAN, LAN, WLAN, NAC, and data center networking.
- Develop secure hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity solutions across enterprise and public cloud environments.
- Design network segmentation, routing, connectivity, and security architectures for complex enterprise environments.
- Recommend appropriate network and cloud orchestration solutions based on customer requirements.
- Support network modernization, migration, optimization, and service transformation initiatives.
4. Infrastructure Automation and DevSecOps
- Design and promote automated infrastructure delivery using Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, and version control.
- Develop and review Terraform-based automation for network, cloud, and security infrastructure.
- Apply DevOps and GitOps practices, including peer reviews, automated testing, controlled change promotion, rollback, and operational validation.
- Integrate security and quality checks into CI/CD pipelines to identify risks before deployment.
- Promote policy-driven automation, automated compliance validation, and repeatable infrastructure provisioning.
- Reduce manual configuration and audit activities through standardized, secure, and automated delivery processes.
5. Security by Design
- Incorporate security requirements into network and cloud architectures from the initial design stage.
- Apply secure-by-design and zero-trust principles across network segmentation, identity, access control, and connectivity.
- Address secrets management, identity federation, threat assessment, and security policy enforcement.
- Work with security teams to ensure that proposed architectures meet customer security and compliance requirements.
Required Technical Skills and Experience 1. Enterprise Networking
- Strong expertise in enterprise networking and related telecommunications services.
- Understanding of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV).
- Hands-on experience with SD-WAN technologies such as Cisco Viptela, Aruba EdgeConnect (formerly Silver Peak), VMware VeloCloud, CloudGenix/Prisma SD-WAN, and uCPE.
- Strong knowledge of WAN routing and switching, hybrid WAN, LAN, WLAN, and Network Access Control (NAC).
- Experience with data center network architecture and network virtualization.
- Familiarity with cloud networking orchestration platforms such as Aviatrix.
2. Cloud Networking and Connectivity
- At least two years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, or managing enterprise-grade public cloud networking and connectivity solutions.
- Experience with one or more major cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Alibaba Cloud.
- Knowledge of AWS networking services, including Route 53 and Direct Connect.
- Understanding of AWS security and monitoring services, including WAF, AWS Config, and CloudWatch.
- Strong understanding of the Azure hub-and-spoke network architecture.
- Experience designing hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity, routing, segmentation, and security controls.
3. Infrastructure Automation, DevOps, and DevSecOps
- Strong hands-on Terraform experience is mandatory.
- Experience applying DevOps principles to network and infrastructure engineering.
- Familiarity with GitHub, Git-based workflows, and GitOps operating models.
- Experience with Ansible, Python, or comparable scripting and automation technologies.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and configuration management for network, cloud, and security environments.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipeline integration, including source-code and dependency scanning, container or image security checks, and Infrastructure as Code validation.
- Experience with version control, peer review, automated testing, controlled deployments, rollback, and operational validation.
- Understanding of policy-as-code, automated compliance, and security controls embedded within infrastructure delivery pipelines.
4. Network and Infrastructure Security
- Experience with firewalls, next-generation firewalls, web filtering, secure web gateways, proxies, IDS/IPS, and SSL VPN technologies.
- Familiarity with security platforms and products such as:
- Palo Alto Networks PA-Series and Prisma Access
- Zscaler and Netskope
- Check Point Security Gateways
- Fortinet FortiGate
- Cisco Secure Firewall
- Juniper SRX
- F5 BIG-IP
- Broadcom Edge Secure Web Gateway
- Understanding of zero-trust networking, enterprise segmentation, and secure access control.
- Knowledge of identity federation, directory services, secrets management, and cloud security controls.
- Ability to integrate security requirements into architecture, automation, deployment, and operational processes.
5. Observability, Performance, and Virtualization
- Familiarity with network and application performance management solutions such as Riverbed and Cisco.
- Knowledge of observability and monitoring platforms such as Cisco ThousandEyes, Splunk, and Dynatrace.
- Understanding of virtualization technologies, including VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, and KVM.
- Familiarity with containerized environments and their networking and security considerations.
Qualifications and Professional Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in the ICT, telecommunications, networking, or infrastructure services industry.
- Strong customer-facing consulting experience, including direct engagement with customer IT management and senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and experience coordinating teams in a multinational, matrix-managed environment.
- Proven ability to develop and communicate technical strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Strong understanding of ICT market trends, technology services, commercial considerations, and customer business drivers.
- Ability to manage complex technical situations, competing priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
- Strong business and commercial awareness, including understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Return on Investment (ROI), and financial performance considerations.
- University degree in Computer Science, Communications Systems, Telecommunications, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Fluent English is required. Dutch or French language skills are an advantage.
